What now?

Dear broehtrs and sisters Assalam o Alaikom wa rahmatullah
After waiting for a long time and having many discussions, hustings and what not, finally the day is here. By now most of us would have gone out and voted for their favourit candidates or parties (of course not the BNP).
Although, much talk of a "hung parliament" is going on on one hand, the fear of the two main parties not being able to have absolute majority in spite of the unique British "first-past-the-post" electoral system and then usually resulting in a sizable majority for a party who only has a minority backing amongst the population is also a reality, we Muslims need to ponder over some facts.
- Everything that we do to bring a change is rewarded by the intention that we have.
Acts are rewarded by the intentions behind them, a Hadith of the Prophet sallahu alaih wasallam.
- Anything that we did or do for this life or hereafter, is a means and source and not the only reason for its result, in other words, the true source of power for any change in this world is the Creator Allah and not anyone else.
This, however obviouse may it seems, must always remain and stay in front of our eyes, otherwise, a nice hard and long tirless work can turn into a vain job at the end of the day, the one that would bring no fruits whatsoever.
Keep in mind, for example, the situation of the best of humans, the companions of the holy Propher sallahau alaih wasallam in Uhud and also in Hunayn when they thought they were more in number and this time they will win over the kufaar; Allah says in Surah Tawbah verse 25:

Certainly Allah has helped you on many fields, and on the day of Hunayn, when your multitude made you vain, but it availed you nothing and the earth, in spite of its breadth, became strait to you; then you turned back in retreat.”
So without the Will of Allah, the material means are ineffective, (“… it availed you nothing…”) , and restructs them spiritually.
The holy Prophet sallallah alaih wasallam would always say after doing his bit "O Allah! this is what I could do and my reliance is on You alone" (I am not relying on my action).
- After participationg in elections and voting some one whome we thought would best serve the community,We now need to ask Allah to get those into the power who would make good decisions for ths country, for common good and particularly for Msulims.
The Holy Propher salahu alaih wasallam would also ask a du'aa:
"... give not power over us to those who would not fear You, and would oppress us,. O the most merciful of those who show mercy!"
- We always need to keep in mind the moment we voted the candidate we voted for so that at any time for anything in future that we feel we need to contact our MP about, we must remember that particular moment and feel confident to contact him/her about the issue at hand, inshallah.
Finally a couple of extracts from an article:

-"Neither of the parties potentially forming a government after today will have a popular mandate, because they are not bound to listen to the voice of the people, but rather carry out the policies of their paymasters, the banks".
-When it comes to political parties and their MPs, they're all in the pocket of the bankers. A hung parliament wouldn't be too bad, provided they hang them all properly.
May Allah help us all, ameen.
